Volunteer Opportunity: Volunteer Chief Financial Officer

The Animal Cause, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Christian animal welfare organization. Our mission is to save shelter animals and unite animal advocates to reform animal welfare, raise awareness and create social change. We offer volunteer services to help save more animals while examining and supporting efforts to solve the causes behind the shelter population. We partner with and support other organizations in these efforts. Our vision is to reform animal welfare by becoming a strong, united, and impactful presence.
We are 100% volunteer-based(no one at The Animal Cause, Inc. earns a salary).
To celebrate our ten year anniversary, we are adding a new program in 2024 to our existing portfolio of programs and service offerings! This new program in and of itself will add long term complexities and resource demands; therefore, we are recruiting an army of volunteers to help us with this endeavor!!
Additionally, we are looking for animal passionate and progress driven individuals to become part of our Board of Directors; to help bring leadership and vision in this endeavor. We are looking for individuals who can commit around 8-20 hours per week initially; which should taper off after priority steps have been completed.

Requirements
- Board Members serve a minimum commitment of one year and a two year term in chair.
- Board Members are required to donate or raise a minimum of $5000 annually through securing sponsorships, anniversary campaigns, or a personal donation.
- Board Members are required to make referrals to help grow the Organization.
- Board Members are required to attend monthly and quarterly meetings.
As the highest leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for:
Responsibilities
- Know the Organization’s mission, programs, and needs
- Assist in annual budget creation, strategic operational and recruitment planning
- Assist in the creation and monitoring of metrics key to the success of programs, projects and overall growth of the Organization
- Assist in the setting of policy’s, procedures and best practices of the Organization
- Assist in the development and evolution of the business plan of the Organization
- Approve budget spending, reports and key decisions
- Contribute to an annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director
- Build relationships that can offer support to the Organization
- Solicit donations from within their networks
- Assist in setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Organization
- Follow the Organization’s bylaws, policies, and board resolutions
- Sign an annual NDA and any other applicable contractual agreements
- Remain up to date on the laws and regulations regarding the 501(c)(3) status of non-profit organizations, employee law, and other pertinent legal and financial information
Qualifications
- 3-5 nonprofit organization board membership
- Fundraising experience is preferred but not required
